The Atlanta Fine Arts League, Inc. kicked off its inaugural community project with Art From the Heart, a project in which local artists donated their time and talents to create a portraits of Georgia's service men and women who died in the line of duty while in Afghanistan and Iraq. The project was created by Lisa Gleim-Jonas who was inspired by a project that she participated in called Portrait Project 9/11 where Ms. Gleim-Jonas painted the portrait of fallen New York Fire Fighter Tommy Foley who died in the World Trade Center disaster. She and the League's founding members started the project in 2005 and it has grown to over 50 artists participating and over 75 portraits to date.

The professional quality oil paintings are twenty by twenty-four inch head and shoulder. Each family receives the same size and type of portrait that hangs comfortably in the family's home. Our volunteer artists are professional artists and have been reviewed to assure each artist can capture the likeness of the soldier.
