Kamal El Sheshai
After more than thirty years of university teaching, research and business consulting Kamal resumed his hobby of painting which he started at the age of fourteen. Kamal paints figurative scenes and impressionist landscapes, working primarily in oils and occasionally in pastels. He paints landscapes en plein air on site and in his studio for large paintings. His work reflects the influence of American and European immersionist artists.
He has been influenced particularly by the work of John Singer Sargent, Alfred Sisley and Joaquin Sorolla along with the work of Edgar Payne, Maurice Braun and Anthony Thieme. Kamal is primarily self-taught but has received painting instructions from several local and national artists. He has attended workshops by Daniel Green, David Leffel, Albert Handell, Scott Christensen, Kim English and Camille Przewodek among others. Kamal has exhibited in several juried as well as group shows.
