Tom Wood

LOOKING BACK OVER MY LONG CAREER IN THE ADVERTISING WORLD, SPANNING OVER FOUR DECADES IN ATLANTA, I NOW THINK MY SUCCESS WAS HELPED BY MY OVERWHELMING NEED TO THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX, TO STRIVE FOR NEW WAYS TO "SAY THE SAME OLD THINGS." MY TALENT FOR CREATING AWARD WINNING DESIGN HELPED BUILD ONE OF THE LARGEST AND MOST SUCCESSFUL DESIGN STUDIOS IN THE SOUTHEAST.

IN 2000, I DECIDED TO TAKE A STEP BACK FROM THE ADVERTISING WORLD TO PURSUE MY LASTING LOVE OF PAINTING AND SCULPTURE. I FIND MYSELF AGAIN THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX. I AM CONSTANTLY TRYING TO BRING NEW TECHNIQUES TO MY WORK. IT HIKES MY INTEREST AND MOTIVATION.

I HAVE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO STUDY WITH SOME OF THE FINEST ARTISTS OF OUR TIME - BILL DAVIDSON, ALBERT HANDEL, JOHN BUDRIN, CHARLES REID AND MANY MORE. BUT MY BIGGEST INSPIRATION COMES FROM THE IMPRESSIONISTS.  AS I HAVE ROAMED THE HALLS OF THE ORSAY AND WALKED THE ALLURES OF PARIS, I MARVEL AT THE COLLECTIVE TALENTS OF THESE GREATS.

MY CONCLUSION - IF YOU ARE EVER HAPPY WITH YOUR WORK YOU'RE NOT STRETCHING YOURSELF ENOUGH.
